Darren Bain founded A1 Electrical in 2006 after returning to Dunedin from travelling overseas. Mosgiel has always been home for Darren and it’s where he completed his electrical apprenticeship after high school. Darren is driven and has a ‘do it yourself’ attitude, he has built A1 Electrical from the ground up to the flourishing business that it is today. He now has an excellent team behind him, and his wife Phillipa also takes care of the administration side of the business.
Darren enjoys managing a team and seeing projects from start to finish. He’s found reliability and good communication skills have been crucial to building a client base and working with a wide range of outside trades. Darren expects a high-quality level of work from his staff, maintaining a high standard is a key part of his business model. Most of A1 Electricals business is from word of mouth, they do very little, if any outside advertising.
A1 Electrical is proudly locally owned and operated and are widely involved in many aspects of the Mosgiel community. As a growing business, Darren likes to bring through apprentices in the trade and sees it as a good way to contribute to the wider workforce by upskilling someone. Darren enjoys coaching junior rugby at the Taieri Rugby Club and A1 Electrical are proud sponsors of the Taieri Squash Club.
